GUIDANCE WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST

to About

    About

North Star Family Autism Center was founded to provide support to individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their parents, siblings, or other caregivers as they navigate their experiences.

Using therapeutic approaches guided by research, North Star Family Autism Center offers family education, parent training, social support, and individual therapy for family members. Our therapists aim to walk alongside caregivers in their journey to build knowledge, coping skills, and confidence in caring for their family member with autism.

To best support the entire family, North Star Family Autism Center also provides assessment and individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults with autism.

  • Therapy: Children, adolescents, and adults with autism can benefit from additional support to help them learn about their diagnosis, manage challenging emotions, and navigate relationships with others.

  • Diagnostic Evaluations: Individuals who suspect autism in themselves or a family member may seek answers and guidance. Our comprehensive approach to diagnosis is followed by compassionate support for individuals and families as they identify next steps for treatment.

  • Psychoeducational Assessment: A thorough assessment can inform home, school, and community support. We work with individuals, families, and schools to provide guidance in individualizing curriculum for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.

  • Transition Planning: The needs of individuals with autism require families to look ahead to the next stage of life. Our clinicians can help families plan for and navigate upcoming transitions.

  • Psychoeducation: So much about an autism diagnosis is new and overwhelming for a family. Learn about autism, what it means to your family, and effective treatment strategies for individuals with autism across the lifespan.

  • Caregiver Training: You may feel unable to communicate with your child or manage their challenging behavior. Learn to better understand your child's needs so that you can address any challenges in a way that works for your family.

  • Coping: You may experience difficulty coping with complex emotions while caring for your family member with autism. Learn strategies you can use to cope with challenging thoughts and emotions and focus on what is most important in your life.

  • Social Support: Having a child or a sibling with autism spectrum disorder can be isolating. Connect and learn with other families who have had similar experiences in a supportive environment.
